Kiln is on!
My kiln is on for a glaze firing! I really dislike glazing, as it takes so long, but I do love opening a glaze kiln when it’s cooled down. Especially if there are lots of bright colours and areas of sparkly melted glass.
It will be a few days before the kiln is cool enough for me to open it and reveal what’s inside.
Everything has slowed down somewhat, and I’m not a fast worker to start with, as I put my back out at the weekend. Still, it’s getting better…I’m now able to put my own socks on!
I’ll add some more, larger, cabochons/brooches to my website, at the end of the week. Pieces are moving slower than usual, and although a lot of that is to do with the UK shipping problems, I wonder if buying through my personal website, rather than Etsy, is putting buyers off. It’s hard to know with the change in shipping options.
Still, it might be a good time to buy, if you’ve been having problems with pieces selling quickly in the past, especially if you’re in the UK, as national shipping is unaffected. Also, through my website, I don’t need to charge sales tax, (my earnings are below the VAT threshold) whereas Etsy automatically charged sales tax, especially for those in the United States. So maybe that balances the extra shipping costs?
